Michelle grew up in a mining town on the Copperbelt in Zambia and moved to South Africa to finish school and then pursue a law degree. She completed her studies – and promptly disappointed her parents by deciding not to be a lawyer.
In Michelle’s opinion, life in the courtroom paled in comparison to placing leaders in the boardroom. A career in executive search was born.
“The lawyer in me is inspired by the fact that we contribute to building great businesses using expertise and data. When I present a shortlist, I can confidently say that my team has covered the market, and we’ve brought not only the best suited to the role, but those that are the best fit for the organisation”.
Michelle co-leads the Africa Practice, working across a range of industries including fintech, data science, energy and resources, and consumer goods. She brings a personal approach to the work – her upbringing in what some might call rural Africa means that she has some unique insights into what it takes to work on the continent – true grit, a keen sense of adventure, and a massive dose of cross-cultural receptivity.
